Men's Soccer 2018-19

This is Nick Deren, head coach for the Men's Soccer team. Our team is involved in a fundraising competition among all varsity athletic programs at Detroit Mercy. The winning team of the Clash of the Titans receives an additional bonus donation for their fundraising needs.  Those who know me understand I am extremely competitive and want to win any competition my team enters!

The major goal of this fundraising competition is to enhance and benefit student-athlete welfare.  Our student-athletes work extremely hard on and off the field and they need your help!  To reach the top of the Horizon League and achieve a berth in the NCAA Tournament we are in need of your assistance.

Your donations will go towards:

1. In-Stat software for team and player development. The software analyzes games thoroughly and breaks the game down on a collective basis where the team is analyzed statistically and likewise on an individual basis. It goes into great detail and allows the players to watch every touch and movement on the field with a full analytical report. This will advance player development and help the players and coaching staff move to the next level.
2. Rental facilities for our winter training period (which doesn’t come out of our operating budget). Having the ability to use indoor soccer facilities instead of the gym floor at Calihan will enhance player development which in turn will help the overall team development.
3. Traveling on sleeper buses for long road trips. These buses allow our players to sleep in beds on the way home from longer road trips which allow them to recover physically more quickly and to perform better in the classroom the following day.
