I am Coach Guy Murray, director of the Track and Field and Cross Country program here at University of Detroit Mercy. In my 27 years as program director, I continue to push my student-athletes to achieve at high levels both in the classroom and in competition.
We are here today to raise funds to support the team. Our goal is to raise $12,500 which we will use to purchase equipment. We will also use these funds for travel expenses to get us to those competitions necessary to help the team develop.
This fundraising competition is no different from all our competitions and my tenets won’t fail. As you support the team, remember those works:
“Discretion is the better part of valor” - Coach, we need more valor and less
discretion when the donations are made.“Nothing good happens after midnight" - Coach, online donations can be made 24 hours a day, and some late night decisions might be good here.
“Go out slow & taper” - Coach, we need some big donations to start and strong contributions to the end.
“Toughen up” - Coach, the Titan Track and Field and Cross Country alumni and fans are tough enough and ready to power us to another victory, just like all those Horizon League wins over the years!
We are counting on you. Thank you for your support!
